Vila Nova de Gaia: Port Wine Tasting w/Cheese Pairing Option

8. Vila Nova de Gaia: Port Wine Tasting w/Cheese Pairing Option

Make yourself at home while tasting our iconic Port wines. All of that at our historical building in the heart of Vila Nova de Gaia, just across the Douro River from Porto city. The impressive building dates back to 200 years and it has a close relation to the Port Wine world. It was originally used as a cooperage that manufactured barrels and casks for the Port houses in Vila Nova de Gaia. In the 1950s, with the increasing usage of stainless steel vats, the business was turned into a wooden box manufacturer (boxes which were used to contain Port bottles), until the ‘90s, when it was transformed into a Port wine tasting room. Finally, we acquired this lodge in 2020 to be able to share our wines and passion directly with our guests in Vila Nova de Gaia. The best place to learn all about the specifics of the Port Wine with our friendly staff! Welcome to the Quevedo family! Although the Quevedo Family has been producing Port Wine in São João da Pesqueira for more than 5 generations, the actual company was only founded in 1993. This makes us one of the most recent Port Wine Houses from the Douro. With less than 30 years of existence, we feel we are at the beginning of our journey and every day is a fresh page added to what we like to do most: explore all the ways wines can be enjoyed.

Excellent and top customer service from the friendly and open-minded captain of the ship. Stunning scenery, a glass of original Douro wine, lovely people and overall great atmosphere. Would recommend this experience to anyone, who wants to see the most beautiful part of Douro Valley from a different perspective!

Wonderful experience from beginning to end. Milena and Zé were awesome and the same can be said from everyone that was a part of the day. The tour is very worth it and I was incredibly happy to show a bit of my country to my foreign family in this way. Cannot recommend enough!

Great experience. It was raining slightly, but we enjoyed the experience anyway since we were glad the trip wasn't cancelled. The guides were also very good and hospitable.

Our tour guide, Milena, has a sense of humor. I had a question not related to the tour could not google the answer. Milena did by asking her family. Much appreciated.

Delphina was excellent as was our driver. Tour was well organized and all involved were friendly and informative.
