9. Porto: River Douro Cruise with a Fisherman
Be greeted at Marina do Freixo with a welcome drink or port or sparkling wine together with some local aromatic almonds. Set sail at a leisurely pace to discover Porto and the River Douro through the eyes of a fisherman.
See the Palacio de Freixo, just next to the marina. Continue downstream to where you will see the 6 bridges that connect Porto to Gaia.
The first metal bridge that you will see is the one designed by Gustav Eiffel, Maria Pia Bridge, followed by Infante Bridge, and the landmark of the city, Dom Luis I Bridge, designed by Teofille Sierig. Admire another UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Ribeira and Gaia riverside, where the port wine cellars are located.
Further downstream, see the picturesque fishing village, São Pedro da Afurada, the nature reserve of Cabedelo, and the very charming Foz Velha.
Continue on your route towards the Atlantic Ocean. Keep your eyes peeled for local fisherman on their way to the ocean, to start or finish their working day.
Reach the highlight of the cruise at the river mouth, Foz, at sunset. Don't miss the chance to watch some fisherman fishing next to the river mouth.
Choose to have a private trip with your very own boat and dedicated skipper. Enjoy the intimate and comfortable atmosphere with just you and your group.
