What people are saying about Doubtful Sound
It was fantastic!! To start off with we were rather disappointed that we woke up to a rainy day. But off we went, raincoats on all ready for the day. We ordered the packed lunch, which was more than enough, and very tasty. The rain did not put on damper on the day at all. In fact with the rain came the most amazing waterfalls, many of them too. We were very blessed to be able to go out into the sea because we had no wind. We saw dozens of fur seals and even spotted a whale...twice!!. A fantast day had!! The team were amazing...the service great...facilities clean and first class!!
We had the advantage of a stellar weather day. Our nature guide told us it was quite rare to have such warm, Calm weather. It would be really difficult to convey in words how luscious the little islands appeared. We spent most of the time outside on the deck and took too many pictures. The deep silence experience was unforgettable. We enjoyed the commentary and the fact that it was not over done.… Leaving us plenty of time to just look and take in the surroundings.
This was a wonderful full day, being an hour’s cruise across Manapouri, an hour’s drive overland and a three hour trip on Doubtful Sound. Prepare for a day of mixed weather. Real Journeys are very professional and we would not hesitate to recommend them. Safety was a priority, as was cleanliness. The hosts were knowledgeable and helped make the day special.
A real highlight of our trip to New Zealand! The whole trip was extremely well organised from beginning to end. The informative commentary on all stages of the trip, the free tea and coffee on the boat sections of the trip were small details that really added value. The main event though was obviously the scenery, and this was truly magnificent.
It was a fantastic trip the scenery was epic. The tour guides were so friendly and all of the commentaries were interesting and humorous. It is one of the best experiences I have had and I would highly recommend to other NZers to experience.
