Discover the historic Demilitarized Zone of Vietnam, recognized by the Geneva Conference on 21 July 1954 on the 17th parallel, temporarily dividing the country into 2 states. Your guide will take you to Quang Tri province, where you will visit the Church of La Vang, and Dong Ha town, location of an important US Marine Combat Base, providing surveillance of the troops across the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ). See Doc Mieu base, part of an elaborate electronic system intended to prevent infiltration across the DMZ. Explore Hien Luong Bridge (Peace Bridge), built from steel by the French in 1950. At Cua Tung Beach, see where the Ben Hai River flows from west to east just south of the 17th parallel. Explore the Vinh Moc tunnels complex deep in the Vietnamese Demilitarized Zone. After lunch at a local restaurant, learn about the ethnic minority people and see the Dakrong Bridge across the Dakrong River. Explore the Ho Chi Minh Trail, which ran from North Vietnam to South Vietnam through neighboring Laos and Cambodia. Continue to Rock Pile base for American long range artillery, and Khe Sanh combat base in the rolling mountains and forests of the valley.

Start with pickup in the morning from your accommodation in Hue. From there, head to Dong Ha town where the local guide will board the vehicle to begin the tour. The first stop is Doc Mieu Base, one of the front lines. Learn how the Americans set up a group of firebases on a ridge of hills looking across the DMZ and the Ben Hai River. Gain a deeper knowledge of the history and listen to meaningful stories from your English-speaking guide. Continue to the next stop, Hien Luong Bridge. This bridge is located in the 17th Parallel and during the Vietnam war, it was bisected between South and North Vietnam. Go to the last stop and one of the main highlights, the Vinh Moc underground tunnels. Hear how they were used as a refuge to survive from all the bomb attacks during the war. Before heading back to Hue City, stop by a local restaurant to have an authentic Vietnamese lunch ( you pay for yourselfs). The tour ends with a drop-off service back to your accommodation.
