Dominus Flevit: Our most recommended tours and activities

From Tel Aviv: Jerusalem Boutique Tour

1. From Tel Aviv: Jerusalem Boutique Tour

Depart from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem and learn about the history of Israel and the Jewish people on the way. After about an hour of driving, arrive at the Mount of Olives from which you can admire the magnificent views of the Old City of Jerusalem and the very first city; the City of David. Walk down to the Dominus Flevit Church and see the hundred thousand Jewish graves towards Gethsemane, the place of the Judas kiss. Stop here for a refreshing tea, coffee, or juice.  From the valley, the bus will bring you back up to the Dung gate from where you will ascend to the Temple Mount (not possible on Fridays, Saturdays, and religious holy days). Up next, visit the last stations of the Via Dolorosa inside the Church of The Holy Sepulcher. Gaze at the location of both Golgotha, the place of the crucifixion, and the resurrection of Jesus. Next, continue to the Jewish Quarter to see the Wailing Wall, the Roman Cardo, part of the Via Dolorosa and Golgotha, the place of the crucifixion, and the Holy Sepulcher.

If you have only one day to see Jerusalem, this is the perfect tour for hitting the highlights! They keep the tour group small so you get around more effectively. Believe them-wear rubber soled/comfortable shoes. Plenty of fast paced walking on uneven surfaces, steep and dark stair cases and winding slopes. It is a work out, but well worth it. The tour focus is history and significance to religion. However, this is not a religious tour. Nor is there leisure time for exploring the markets in the Old City. If you want to shop, you need to go back at another time or pack your lunch. You can use the lunch break period for shopping in the Jewish quarter. The lunch restaurant arrangement was decent, but no great culinary experience. I ate lunch as I needed a break. There is a brief period of time allowed for souvenir shopping but the store recommended may not provide the type of items you may wish to buy.

Jerusalem is one of those places which, in order to be fully able to appreciate, you need to be aware of its rich history. And I cannot imagine a better guide than Nadia taking us on this historical journey. Knowledgable, funny, and full with energy, she kept me captivated the entire time. Having done this tour with Nadia, I feel like I have a pretty good idea of the various historical layers of this Holy place. I would totally recommend this experience to anyone interested in diving deeper into the history of Jerusalem.

Tour assolutamente consigliato. Organizzazione perfetta in ogni minimo dettaglio. Mando è super entusiasta e appassionato sui temi della visita e riesce a trasferire al meglio tutte le informazioni senza mai essere noioso. Buona la sosta per il pranzo e anche lo spuntino della mattina!!

Provided an excellent overview tour of the city. Enjoyed the optional group lunch with rooftop views of the city.

Nadia was fantastic! Fireworks from the first to the last minute!
