See the Doge's Palace and St. Mark's Basilica, two of the most iconic sites in Venice, on a guided tour.

For centuries, the destiny of the Most Serene Republic was decided in the majestic halls of the Doge’s Palace. Walk through the magnificent halls and marvel at the well-conserved priceless treasures, art masterpieces, and frescos.

Visit the prison, passing over the celebrated Bridge of Sighs, so called because prisoners often sighed while looking at their beloved lagoon and freedom for the last time before reaching their cells.

Among the famous guests of the Doge’s Palace prisons was Giacomo Casanova, the celebrated seducer and adventurer who managed to escape from the prison in 1756.

Next, head to St. Mark’s Basilica, one of the world’s most stunning churches. As the name suggests, this cathedral is bound tightly to Venice’s patron, St. Mark, and the saint's remains are in fact here.

Admire the breathtaking golden mosaics covering the high walls, and see the Pala d’Oro, an altarpiece made from hundreds of pieces of enamel on a golden leaf.

Our guide was very good, interesting, attentive. The visit has a fairly steady pace. Small regret, we did not have time to place a candle at the basilica. The basilica is incredible, the visit to the prison is interesting. We crossed the Bridge of Sighs from the inside almost without realizing it, too bad.. We finished the visit a lot in advance, we are disappointed because we would have seen more things.. Good visit all the same.

The tour lasted about 2.5 hours, we got into both sights without delay, everything was well organized. Natalia is a real Venetian and led us through the Doge's Palace and St. Mark's Basilica charmingly, with a great deal of knowledge and always entertaining little anecdotes. Thank you very much, we enjoyed it very much.

Nice places to visit and learn about the history of Venice. Our guide was monotonous and took more than 2 hours, and when we excused ourselves because we had another tour, she gave us a "look." But this doesn't undermine the prettiness of the place and the necessity to see it. There's another tour that we weren't aware of, which is called the secrets of the Doge's palace (or something like that), where they show you secret pathways inside the palace and tell stories about Casanova and how he escaped (which I thought were gonna be told in this tour but they weren't). Unfortunately, we had no time to do it, and had I known in advance, maybe I would've preferred that tour. Btw it's not on GetYourGuide (as of the time I'm writing this review).
