What to Expect

Following a pick-up from your hotel or accommodation by luxury Land Rover Discovery, transfer to Dartmoor in the heart of Devon. The precise itinerary is entirely flexible depending upon your preferences, but your driver/guide will explain the history of the moor, and take you to one of its famous granite tors. Climb to the top for panoramic views of the surrounding countryside, and look out for Dartmoor ponies and other indigenous wildlife. The choice of tor will depend on your capabilities, and can range from a stiff climb to a single step just a few meters from the car.
Go to Princetown to visit infamous Dartmoor Prison, and hear stories of escape attempts and dastardly deeds in the prison museum. Next, stop for lunch at a café or country pub, depending on your preference (meal not included).
Continue through Dartmoor to sites such as Postbridge and Widdecombe, famous as the setting of the song “Uncle Tom Cobley.” Visit a working farm to see what its like to be a modern-day farmer on Dartmoor. The activities at the farm will depend on the season and current tasks being undertaken. Finally, enjoy a delicious Devon cream tea (optional extra) before the transfer back to your hotel.

Know Before You Go
• The dress code for this tour is casual. Please note that as this is high moorland, you should be prepared for all types of weather. A fleece and light waterproof are sensible on all but the sunniest days. Good stout footwear is a must
• The itinerary is entirely flexible and can be planned in advance or adapted on the day for different preferences, bad weather etc.
• An ability to walk a few hundred meters off road will help you enjoy all that Dartmoor has to offer, but the tour can be undertaken by those who are less mobile
