What people are saying about Delft

The museum has a nice exhibition of reproductions by the artist Vermeer. The tour starts in the basement with a short film about the history of Delft at the time of his life. On the 1st floor you can learn about the colors and the meaning of light in his paintings. The best for me was the top floor. This explains in short notes what Vermeer drew on the subject of love in the pictures. Be it the wine or the love angel or with hidden looks...very interesting.

Start the tour at the New Church, although you have passed by the Old Church before. It's a worthwhile visit if you're passing through Delft, but not absolutely essential to enjoy the day. There is not much queue at the ticket office of Igreja Nova, and booking in advance may be valid in terms of easy payment methods or organization of itineraries.

I expected to see a house with antique furniture with paintings. But, this museum is very interesting, it is didactic and helped me to understand the symbols in the paintings of the masters of the golden age. An evocation of life in this period would complete well. Nice museum.

The murder of William of Orange had been covered in our granddaughter's class. She was also told about the museum she would like to visit. It was a success, she listened carefully to all the audio.

Great exhibition with interesting background knowledge
