What People Are Saying About Death Valley
The day was organised into a well thought out series of 'experiences' in this wild and inhospitable part of the world. Our guide, Rachel, was competent, considerate and full of interesting information and stories. The vehicle was roomy (there were only 4 of us on the tour that day) and comfortable. The tour included some beautiful narrow twisty roads which would not have been accessible in a coach and being in a small group definitely made the day more fun. The scenery is as amazing as we had read but the heat and the ferocious winds were beyond what we had expected to encounter - you really do need a knowledgeable guide to get the most out of a day trip through this area. There were loads of opportunities to take photographs and ask questions throughout the day and we felt we had had a full, stimulating and enjoyable day- an experience that would stay with us.
We consider this experience as incredible at every stage. The places and landscapes we have visited are all breath taken and the organisation of the journey really permitted us to take the most of it via hiking, etc. During this trip we could have experienced very local attractions and restaurants and avoid "touristy" places which is much appreciated. The guide also highly contributed to the success of the trip as he shared all his knowledge with us (and he was very knowledgeable) and therefore helped us to apprehend other facets of our discoveries i.e. history and geology. The guide has been also really nice and positive all along the trip and succeeded to create a great atmosphere favorable to discussions and team spirit between all members of the group. Finally, the quality of service of the company is really high. I would completely recommend this tour but also any tour from the company and will not hesitate to contact them for my next travel
The three of us and guide Emmett had a ball, it would have to go down as the tour of a lifetime just one of those times a group of people clicked, it sure was fun and it certainly lived up o my expectations.
Rachel was a superb guide,we learned a lot,she gave a lot of information, cared of us ,answered all the questions,I suppose, this was not the last tour, with her (company.)
The one criticism was the Tour not carrying water. I have been on many camping trips, but water was always available without looking for taps to refill ones bottle. Hot water for tea or coffee in the morning would have been a plus too. The food carried for lunch/breakfast was not varied enough. Snack bars should have been available. We were constantly being rushed. Meals were rushed, and at some time before the departure questions should have been asked. Vegetarians on trip tried to phone but never got an answer. Age does matter on this type of trip. No-one indicated or was interested in how old we were. Considering my age (80), I should have been asked if I was capable of erecting a tent and blowing up a sleeping mattress. If not the Hotel option should have been essential. The Tour Guide was not well informed, he also gave incorrect info..this in regard to distance and time of hikes. DON'T GET ME WRONG...I LOVED THE WHOLE EXPERIENCE AND WOULD DO IT AGAIN.
