Darmstadt: Private Guided Walking Tour

Darmstadt: Private Guided Walking Tour

See the outstanding building designed by the world-renowned architect Friedensreich Hundertwasser – the Forest Spiral (Waldspirale). Enjoy the city famous for its Art Nouveau architecture, and see the city's landmarks: the artists’ colony Mathildenhöhe, founded by Grand Duke Ernst Ludwig of Hessen, and the Wedding tower, which was given as a wedding present to the Duke in 1905. From the 19th century onwards, Darmstadt became a hub for research and tech companies, like its high-tech centre near Frankfurt’s airport known for its use by the European Space Agency. The “City of Science”, as it calls itself since 1997, also counts with the presence of many titans of the chemical, pharmaceutical IT, biotech, telecommunications and mechatronics industries. It is without a doubt a place to wonder at how far Germany and Europe have gone, from the Middle Ages to the Space Age.

Super good, very informative and presented in a very lively way by the guide. Chapeau! A suggestion for logistics: It was our own fault that we were a few minutes late due to the parking situation. The group had already started walking. The young man at the information desk couldn't tell us which direction to go or what the guide looked like... It would be helpful if there was even a little bit of interest here... Apart from that, after "climbing" the hill, a tip on the nearest toilet wouldn't hurt. But that has nothing to do with the quality of the tour. The lady was great!

Fantastic tour today, despite the weather! I was the only one so it ended up being a private tour, felt so lucky and privileged. The tour guide had great English, was really friendly and knew all her facts. Would recommend to anyone and everyone. Really excellent time, loved it, even with the rain!
