Amsterdam: Traditional Dutch Syrup Waffle Making Workshop

Amsterdam: Traditional Dutch Syrup Waffle Making Workshop

Step into a cozy venue nestled in the charming heart of Amsterdam and allow the aroma of caramel and freshly baked dough to envelop you, setting the stage for a truly authentic Dutch experience. Begin your workshop with an introduction from your instructor, who will share the fascinating history of the stroopwafel, a beloved Dutch specialty since the 18th century. Don your apron and gather around as the guide demonstrates the art of crafting the perfect Stroopwafel—from mixing the dough to the precise cooking technique required to achieve that golden, crispy texture. Then, it’s your turn to get hands-on. Roll out your dough and learn how to cook it to perfection on a traditional iron. Enjoy the highlights of the process: drizzling warm, gooey syrup —the 'stroop'— between the thin waffle layers, sealing the sweet concoction. While your creations cool, enjoy a well-deserved break with a cup of coffee or tea, mingling with fellow baking enthusiasts. Relish the first bite of your own stroopwafel, crisp yet tender, perfectly complemented by your hot beverage. As the workshop draws to a close, pack up one of your stroopwafels to take home, along with new skills and sweet memories.

The tour was unique! We took this tour with my sister and we were both very satisfied and left with a lot of knowledge about Amsterdam. The guide talks about the history of Amsterdam while you walk through unique streets without tourists. This was beautiful because without the tour we might have overlooked them. The tour guide very friendly and cheerful. At the end of the tour we had a unique surprise. Our tour guide took a polaroid photo, something I've never seen before on a tour. I would definitely go again. Highly recommended.

We made and decorated stroopwafels (with chocolate and topping). They had prepared the batter mix to which we just added water, kneaded the dough, then cooked and filled the waffle. Our group only had 7 people, and I think it would have been tight for time in a larger group.

Everything was fine, except the bus. Almost every section had usb port to charge except my row.

Madeline was an incredible host, so informative and knowledgeable. She deserve a bonus !

Wonderful experience and the Stroopwaffles were delicious!
