From Dakar or Saly: Gorée Island Half-Day Private Tour

Goree Island is well worth seeing. Beautiful scenery but a tragic history that has to be acknowledged. The guide was very pleasant and helpful although more could have been explained in English. Suggest that guides buy the tickets in advance so that there is no hour or hour and a half wai tat the ferry terminal.. I had requested to stop by the Post Office and Unfortunately this did not happen Call zole it had been promised..

SUPER! HIGHLY RECOMMEND! My tour guide Moustapha did such an amazing job sharing his knowledge of his country and Goree Island; I truly commend him as he brought life to this experience of history. My tour was scheduled from 09h to 13h, but as my hotel was south of Saly, I knew beforehand that my hotel pickup would be well before 09:00. We left the hotel at 07:50 and drove just under two hours to Dakar, where we met the 10:00 ferry to Goree Island. After the wonderful experience on the island, we took the ferry back to Dakar and I was at my hotel by about 14:10. (I would assume the duration of this tour would closely match 09h-13h if staying closer to Dakar.) The price included a r/t ferry ticket and ticket to La Maison des Encalves. I also want to give much credit to the driver Abdou for getting me safely to and from, and for having a good knowledge of the area in order to avoid high traffic areas whenever possible! Again I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this fascinating tour!

Great trip and very interesting, with knowledgeable guide, but the timings were off. As late as the night before, the trip provider confirmed by WhatsApp that they would pick us up at 9am, yet in the morning we got a message at 8.10 am, saving they were waiting for us in reception! We rushed to meet them, and good job we did as the traffic meant the driver only just got us to the ferry on time. There was also confusion with the time of the return ferry, meaning we had to wait 90 minutes. No real problem for us, as it is a beautiful island, but anyone with plans for the afternoon somewhere else would have missed them. Overall, the advertised 4 hour trip took 7.5 hours.
