What to Expect
Saint Catherine’s Monastery, one of the oldest working Christian monasteries in the world, lies at the foot of the legendary Mount Sinai. A UNESCO world heritage site, the monastery is one of the most visited places in Egypt.
In small groups, enjoy a comprehensive tour of the monastery and surrounding areas, led by an expert guide. The monastery was built by order of Emperor Justinian I, and enclosed the chapel of the Burning Bush, which was ordered to be built by Helena, the mother of Constantine I. This is the site where Moses saw the burning bush.
After being collected from your hotel in Dahab, drive for 2 hours to reach the monastery. Here you will be greeted by your expert guide. Learn about the ancient history of the monastery and hear stories about Mount Sinai, the location where Moses is reported to have received the 10 Commandments.
Afterwards, drive to the city of St. Catherine for lunch in a local restaurant, before driving back to your hotel in Dahab.
