Crank up the adrenaline on this 4x4 tour from Dahab to the desert. Cruise through dunes in a Jeep, devour a traditional Bedouin lunch, and polish up your sandboarding skills to finish.
What to Expect
Discover you inner Bedouin side on a Dahab tour that waves goodbye to civilization and takes off into the desert in a 4x4 Jeep.
You will be picked up from the reception of your hotel in Dahab at 8am, and head northwest into the desert plateau. The drive shall take about an hour and a half before we reaching the first stop, giving you time to wake up a little and get to know your sandy surroundings. Stop at the roadside a few times on this drive for plenty of photo opportunities and do not forget your camera. As you drive on, you will descend into the sandstone plateau, seeing the change from granite mountain range to open desert.
Continue this Egypt desert tour towards Double Canyon, home to a number of Bedouin families, and where the real local action is. Head to the top of the canyon, and stop to continue on foot, down through a narrow chimney that has been sculpted out by years and years of erosion. After this spot of climbing, trek along the valley floor for around an hour and admire a landscape beautifully encircled by limestone walls.
Leave the canyon, set up camp, and prepare for lunch. Kick back on an Egyptian carpet, or take a wander around the area while your guides prepare a traditional Bedouin lunch. The preparation of this food is very unique to the Bedouin nomads, so it’s absolutely fascinating to watch. If you’re feeling particularly adventurous, you can even get involved with the cooking and try some techniques for yourself.
After you are full of tasty local treats, head over to a Bedouin family dwelling, where you will enjoy their hospitality over a cup of tea.
Refreshed and full of energy, hop back into your Jeep and take a short off-road drive to the sand dunes where you will crank up the adventure to 11 with some sandboarding. Your desert guide will take you through a few techniques and safety points, then let you loose on the sand where you can surf to your heart’s content.
Finally, hopefully without too much sand in your pockets or filling your shoes, get back in our 4x4 and take a 2-hour drive in the sand dunes back to Dahab. You will be dropped back at your hotel, where you can rest up, dreaming of sand dunes and deserts.

Know Before You Go
It is strongly recommended that you wear loose cotton clothing that covers your chest and shoulders. For the hike and extra grip on the sandboards, rubber-soled shoes are best. Please also bring suncream, a hat, and a light scarf to keep the sun off your head and shoulders.
