What People Are Saying About D-Day Landing Beaches
Important notes to take away from this trip: 1. Small group tour (there were only 6 of us in the group), very cosy and personal. Plus the guide and the driver a total of 8 pax. 2. Small bus tour (very convenient), pick up and drop off at the station Gare de Caen. Meet guide at the station meeting point with a placard bearing our full name. We took SNCF train fr Paris, Gare St Lazare. 3. No need to pay anything as everything has been included in the price of the tour, entrance to the museum Memorial de Caen, lunch, visits to the various locations. 4. Mdm. Rossy our guide is very knowledgable and she knew all the stuff and stories of all the places both in Caen Museum and Bayeux. 5. Lunch was a highlight in itself, we had confit de canard (very recommendable) plus a few other choices, wine, salad, dessert, mineral water, all are inclusive in the price. This is a very interesting tour and especially informative for those who are very keen to follow the path of allied forces during D-Day.
We truly thought our guide was great. He was very knowledgeable and helpful. We are not sure of his name, we think it was something like Bertran. We'd love to have his info as we would ask for him if we come back to Paris.
Our guides, Linda and Patrice, provided an exceptional experience. They were extremely knowledgeable, helpful and informative. Their commentary was fabulous. The day started with a visit to Utah beach and a Museum. Both had plenty to see and a reasonable amount of time to look around. Next we visited a Cider Cellar where we tasted some really nice Ciders. Then it was off to lunch T a Fench restaraunt. They took care of special dietary issues and the food was fantastic. We then went to a defensive position overlooking the cliffs which had been blown to pieces before the D-Day landing. It was amazing to see. Finally, Omaha beach and the U.S. cemetery. I could not believe how many were buried here. Sad to see, yet we have what we have today because of their sacrifices. All up, an excellent trip.
Me and my wife really enjoyed this trip, if only there were more hours in the day! Each stop provided a new, unique experience which was thoroughly enjoyed but somewhat rushed. The tour guides were knowledgeable, entertaining and very friendly. I would highly recommend this trip to anyone with only one day to spare while in Paris.
Felix knows the facts in history. His preview builds up the excitment. The museum could do better in the presentations. Subject matter did not flow at the displays. However, the film was very good. Too bad the "Atlantic Wall" was removed. Seeing is believing
