Full description
Enjoy a full-day excursion from Cusco to Urubamba in the Sacred Valley of the Incas. You will first explore the village and the ruins of Pisac, founded during the colonial times at the foot of a hill crowned by the remains of an Incan city. In the main square you can see the market on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, where locals barter their products and artisans from all over the area sell their woven alpaca wool blankets and ponchos, engraved gourdes, antique reproductions, jewelry, and other handicrafts. Next, you'll continue the uphill road to explore the ancient ruins of Pisaq; marvel around the perfectly built houses and temples and enjoy outstanding views over the Valley from the lookouts.  After lunch you will visit Ollantaytambo, the only Inca town which was not overthrown by the conquistadores. Here you can explore the ruins which tower above the town. In the late afternoon you will return to Cusco, visiting the traditional market of Chinchero en-route.

Although it was the rainy season there were landslides and we could not see the Pisac ruins (we did stop at the town market), the guide was very entertaining and we stopped to see different types of alpacas which was fun. We also did not see Chincheros on this trip since we stayed in Ollantaytambo to catch the train to Aguascalientes. Without a doubt, I prefer the majesty of the Ollantaytambo ruins. I was very surprised and the guide told us a lot about the area. And since we did not return to Cuzco we also enjoyed the Inca streets that are still preserved in the town itself (highly recommended)

It's good but could be a lot better.

Firstly, they make us buy a ticket for 4 archaeological zones and only take us to two, meaning you lose half of the ticket. Then you are obliged to eat in the restaurants they take you to, which are very expensive and less than 20m away have other options (and our guide insisted that he could not leave us free to go there). Honestly what is really worth it is Ollantaytambo. Only. And you can get there in other ways ...
