Enjoy amazing views, visit picturesque towns, and learn about the local Peruvian culture in the rural area outside the city of Cusco. Visit the agricultural terraces of Moray, an Incan archeological site, and the salt evaporation ponds at Maras as well.
What to Expect
The itinerary for this 5-hour tour takes you about 50 kilometers of Cusco to the terraces of Moray, an agricultural center and archeological site.
These impressive ruins display concentric terraces carved into a bowl shape that created distinct microclimates. The Incas used the terraces as a kind of laboratory to study the adaptation of plants to new ecosystems.
After enjoying your box lunch you’ll head to the colonial town of Maras, known for its nearby salt evaporation ponds. After a stop in the village you’ll continue on to the salt mines, made up of around 3,000 small wells formed by a natural underground salt-stream.
The tour ends with a walk down to the town of Urubamba, where a bus will take you back to the city of Cusco.
