Immerse yourself in Latin America’s second largest festival at the Inti Raymi Festival of the Sun, held on 24 June 2013. The Quechua name for Festival of the Sun, Inti Raymi was a time of offerings, sacrifices, dancing, and celebration.
Held In the old capital city of the Incas, the festival continues with all its ancient royal pomp and energy intact. The central act evokes the religious ceremonies of the Inca Empire, starting in the Qoricancha, before continuing to the Main Square and ending at the esplanade of Sacsayhuaman.
Dancers, shaman, and musicians prepare the way for the Inca and his wife, from site to site, in order to celebrate the longer days. A guide will help you navigate you way around the celebrations, explaining the various rituals as you go and providing you with a box lunch break.
