Seeing Machu Picchu is must. I wouldn't have missed it. Our guide was very knowledgeable and friendly and didn't rush us through the tour all of which was wonderful. A guide came the day before our trip and delivered our tickets. We were picked up in a tourist van, drove over an hour to the train where I thought we'd be met by a guide but weren't. We made our way onto the train. We were not met getting off the train either but were met outside the station. To be fair, the day we received our instructions, we were travel weary and may have been told these details but didn't remember. After about 4+ hours of travel (from 4:00am) we had to wait hours for our noon appt to go up to Machu Picchu. Likewise, we finished on the mountain by about 3:00pm and had to wait until 7:00pm to catch the train to the van to head back to Cusco. We arrived at out hotel at 10:30. I understand that they want to give us plenty of time to shop in Machu Picchu village but this was a bit much.

Great organization of the transport, Angel brought it the day before and explained everything extremely well. The driver who dropped us off at the train explained the process very well and was very friendly, we got snacks for the trip. The tour has very fixed schedules, and we didn't have time to have lunch, so it's important to bring food or buy it. But the organization came out perfect. The guide, very good, knew the history very well, and let us enjoy it a lot, besides being a great photographer.

The overall trip was great. Our tour guide Uriel was great. He was very knowledgeable and was able to answer all of our questions. He was also very friendly and a great photographer too. The train ride was good as well, with breathtaking views and commentary that explain the various spots that we were driving through. The only downside to the entire event was the van ride from the hotel to the train station. The roads were very bumpy with some of them being gravel roads, and on the way back we were stuck in traffic which made the trip even longer. My recommendation would be to see if the operator could have the train begin from Cusco instead of Ollantaytambo. We had spoken to other travelers on the train and discovered that there was a train station much closer to Cusco. Other then that one minor issue, the overall experience was great and I would highly recommend it.
