I don't know much about paragliding locations but this has to be one of the world's finest with forested hillsides interspersed with Inca ruins, a large flat plain with small settlements and glacial mountains on the horizon. I did this trip with Leo and his partner (Carlos - I'm sorry we weren't sure we remembered). We were picked up in Cusco by Leo's driver Saul and driven out to the landing area (itself a fascinating drive) and transferred to Leo's 4wd and the taken up 1000 m to the launch area. My two girls went first and we were all given a thorough briefing before getting connected up. Then they were off. Birds of prey soared with them (mountain caracaras?). I think the flight was at least 20 mins and probably could have gone much longer because thermals carried them up higher than the launch area. The main thing I didn't anticipate as a complete novice is the amount of rollercoaster like g forces you get. The landing was an exciting spiral ending with a soft touch down.
Our first paragliding flight with Leo was unforgettable! He made us feel safe and relaxed with clear explanations, patience, and a super positive vibe. Leo waited for the best weather conditions to ensure a smooth and safe flight — and the views over the Sacred Valley were absolutely stunning. After the flight, we enjoyed a local chicha in a nearby village, and Leo even took us to a traditional weaving community for a short demo. A fun, authentic, and enriching experience — highly recommended!
