Full description

Travel about 2 hours outside of Cuenca and visit the 16th-century Ingapirca Ruins (Wall of the Incas), the largest Inca archaeological site in Ecuador, and see the Temple of the Sun. First, arrive at Ingapirca, a town in Cañar Province, Ecuador. The name  Ingapirca refers to the name of the older Inca ruins and archeological site nearby. Next, admire the Temple of the Sun, an elliptical building constructed around a large rock. The buidling is constructed in the Incan manner with stones that are chiseled to fit perfectly without mortar. The temple was positioned so that on the solstices, at a certain time of day, sunlight falls through the doorway of the small chamber at the top.

La excursión comenzó a la hora esperada. Elizabet nos explicó ciertos detalles de Cuenca cuando salíamos de la ciudad. Paramos en Biblian para conocer a la Virgen del Rocío. Posteriormente recorrimos las ruinas de Ingapirca, siempre acompañados de nuestra guía. Todo salió muy bien y acabamos satisfechos.

Definitely recommend this trip for anyone - it was probably the best part of our whole trip. Suggestion: Put the phone number of the facilitator on the invoice/voucher for ease in contacting them prior to the trip (once in country).
