Full description

Experience the iconic clifftop villages overlooking the Aegean on a guided day trip to Santorini. Transfer from Rethymno or Agios Nikolaos to a luxury catamaran. Soak up the caldera views, see the pastel-painted houses of Oia, and stroll through the streets of Fira. Start your day trip from Crete at the port of Rethymno or Agios Nikolaos. Select the option to be picked up from your hotel in an air-conditioned vehicle, and marvel at the blue and white buildings typical of the island on your way to the harbor. Climb aboard a luxury, high-speed catamaran and journey to Santorini in just 2.5 hours. Upon arrival at the port of Athinios, take a tour of the island by an air-conditioned bus. Learn about the history of one of the most romantic islands in Greece from your guide. Travel through the beautiful countryside en route to the village of Oia at the northernmost tip of the island. Built on the lip of a volcanic caldera, the village offers magnificent views of the blue and white houses studded along the hillside.   Continue in the capital Fira for a 2-hours and get plenty of free time to explore the island's capital. Stroll down the picturesque alleys and take in the views of the architecture typical to the Aegean. Browse the shops or enjoy a drink at a bar with stunning views of the volcano and its caldera cliffs. Alternatively, travel by boat to the caldera (subject to availability) for views of the volcano up close. Depart for Crete in the evening for the return trip to the Port of Rethymno, where the tour ends. Select the transfer option to be dropped off at your hotel.

Be prepared for a really long day - 6 hours on the boat for 6 hours on Santorini plus all your transfer and wait times. So set expectations. Having said that, we did and we thought it was a great day out. Delivered on the white buildings and blue domes of Oia (suggest That better be the reason you are doing the trip). Thira not as interesting. But the guide on the bus was truly excellent and pulled it all together. Factual and entertaining. The boat was held up leaving in the morning (not their fault) but they tried to appease anyway by adjusting return schedule so no time was list and offered hot dinner for free in the return trip. Boat was beyond comfortable seating (like airplane business class) and really didn’t seem like 3 hours each way. Not sure I’d want more than a full day on santorini anyway but got my bucket list photos. Kudos all round.

Overall it was a great experience but it started off badly. On the morning of departure, to convert the voucher into a ticket I queued for 1 hour, the ferry left 1.30 hours late. Fortunately, the shipping company remedied by offering dinner on the way back ..... I had asked for the guide in Italian but he explained only in English ....... Santorini is worth seeing.

Unfortunately, the transfer was delayed by 30 minutes. A notification would be desirable to take away the uncertainty. Otherwise super pleasant travel on the Seajet with comfortable seats and 1a lemon muffins. On site we were welcomed by Koula, our tour guide. She guided us through the day with great humor and gave us helpful tips. Everything in German, of course. There was enough time for the stays in the places, since the streets were already very crowded out of season. The negative point was that the specified program took place before Corona. Accordingly, there was no bathing period in the black sands of Perissa. We had chosen time in Fira and not the trip to the volcano. The same applies here on the ferry. Getting there early will be rewarded. Due to the high crowds on site, I would not book the trip again so close to the season, but rather wait for the off-season.
