From Rethymno: Knossos Palace and Heraklion City Day Trip

Great day out made special by our excellent guide Anastasia (and her sweets) and safe driver Cosmos. Knossos is an amazing site and Heraklion is buzzing but still holds the Greek charm. Everything ran so smoothly and professional. Would definitely recommend.

Our guide (Anastasia) was very nice and very informative. She gave us a lot of information about Crete and its history which was very much appreciated 👏 Our driver (Kostos) got us back and forth safely. The bus was great and the seats were comfortable. Knossos was interesting and definitely worth a visit if you like history. Heraklion was fun to experience but it was a little to crowded for our liking. This however has nothing to do with the tour itself. We saw the sights that Anastasia recommend and they were great and then we had coffee and did some shopping, which was nice. All in all a very good experience 👏

So this really is a bus trip with a guide that talks during the drive about Knossos, Heraklion etc. There's no guiding on site. Once you get there you wait in the bus and the guide buys tickets for everyone to enter Knossos and that's really quick and convenient. You spend some time in Knossos before you all leave to Heraklion where you spend the afternoon. There you can enter the archeologhical museum, or not. If you do, you have to stand in a queue for tickets. You're in the city for 4 hours and that's honestly enough. The museum takes 2 hours at most and that's if you really take your time. It opens at 13 so I'd recommend going about in the city first and visiting the museum before leaving since the bus leaves from the museum. The guide is fantastic, the drive is really scenic, bus is comfortable and modern. I wholeheartedly recommend this. I tried thinking about where there's room for improvement but it's perfect for what it is. Music on the bus was silly on the way back though.
