Full description
From the convenient meeting point in Chania, the first stop of the tour will be at the historic winery of the Monastery of Agia Triada Tsangarolon, a beautiful Greek Orthodox monastery set in the picturesque Akrotiri peninsula of Chania. The temple features admirable Byzantine architecture, a folklore museum, and an ancient library of rarities. Sample the monastery’s select wines and admire the museum's display while learning about the production methods used in the past. Enjoy a tasting paired with a small kerasma (after-dinner treats) meze offering. Next up, enjoy a picturesque drive to the family-owned Dourakis Winery in Apokoronas to learn about viticulture, the wine-making process, and to taste their wine. The next stop is to a well-hidden old-style Greek café for some coffee, just across from which is the last stop of the day where you’ll meet the key holder of a treasured chapel and explore its beautifully painted Byzantine art interiors.
