  • Pass old villages and rugged hills on a drive to Crete's southwest coast

Full description

Visit one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Elafonissi is truly a heaven on earth, with soft white/pink sand, exotic crystal-clear water and cedar trees that extend down to the coastline. It is located in the easily accessible, south-western side of Crete.

Get picked up from your hotel area in the morning. Stop for a short break is the Aghia Sophia cave. Visit the cave, and have coffee or refreshments if you choose.

Following this, depart for Elafonissi. On your way, see small traditional villages combined with typical Mediterranean scenery, along with the rugged landscape around the Topolia Gorge.

Once you reach Elafonissi, have 4 hours of free time to soak in the amazing sun and enjoy the spectrum of shades of blue that this beach has to offer. The last stop is at a taverna where you can buy some lunch. At the end of your tour, return to your accommodation in Crete.

Costas & Anastasia were fantastic hosts who along the way were really good at communicating. They lifted the mood and were helpful throughout the trip. It can definitely be recommended! On our way to Elafonissi, we stopped at a cave in the mountainside, we had some breakfast at a cafe by the cave, where the view was fantastic. The stairs to the cave are a bit steep, but the cave was cool to see. Elafonissi Beach was a little piece of paradise and the water was clear and delicious. However, there are many people, and already in the morning all the deckchairs were taken. However, we found a spot on the beach in the sand, which was also delicious. It's quite windy, and you shouldn't be sensitive to all the sand you can get blown in your face. The sand was a bit pink, but we didn't really notice this as everything else was really nice! On the way home we had a stop at a family restaurant, which was nice as we were quite hungry. We were back home at around 8pm. It was worth

Our guide was really super friendly and was able to give us interesting information about the island on the way there. The pickup and return transport were very well organized. The caves at the first stop were really beautiful, but we had exactly 25 minutes to get there and back + something to eat or drink. So the time was very, very tight. Destination Elfafonissi was incredibly beautiful :-) I would recommend everyone to visit this place on their Crete holidays. The 4 hour stay here was absolutely sufficient. On the way back we stopped at a tavern for dinner. Here it was clearly noticeable that busloads of tourists were being processed and as a result some of the food was not really fresh (dried vegetables, etc.) and the staff seemed super stressed. Otherwise the atmosphere was really nice. All in all, I would recommend the excursion destination, but unfortunately not the tour.

Despite the slightly longer journey, the trip to Elafonissi was really worth it. On the way there you will pass a breathtaking gorge, the beach of Elafonissi is beautiful and on the way back you will stop for lunch at an idyllic taverna. Anastasia and Kostas are totally nice and warm people who enjoy their work and made the day great!
