Your experience begins at Agios Nikolaos, from where you will travel for 10 kilometers to arrive at Elounda. This renowned tourist destination boasts luxurious hotels, numerous taverns and restaurants, recreation facilities, and a landscape of unparalleled beauty. Whilst there you will visit the submerged ancient city of Olous (early Christian Basilica). You will also be free to take photos of the bay of Elounda, the Venetian channel, the windmills, and the salt pans. On your way to Cape Aforesmenos you will be overlooking the historic island of Spinalonga, which was initially a Venetian (subsequently Ottoman) fortress. It is the second-most-visited monument in Crete, second only to the Palace of Knossos. It has also been nominated for inscription on the UNESCO World Heritage List. As you continue your journey, you will come across traditional villages with kind-hearted people, a wind farm, folk museums, and fortress-like monasteries. After admiring Elounda for the day, you will return to Agios Nikolaos.
