Full description

Benefit from door-to-door transportation from your Krakow accommodation to the famous Wieliczka Salt Mine. Join a small tour group no larger than 20 people and take a guided tour through the stunning 13th-century UNESCO-listed site while witnessing beautiful chambers carved in salt.

Start with a pickup service from your hotel or accommodation by your driver/guide, who will accompany you throughout the day. As you drive, listen as your guide introduces you to the history and cultural importance of the Wieliczka Salt Mine, one of the world’s oldest working salt mines.

Once you arrive at the salt mine, be met by one of the mine's official guides. Enter the mine chambers and descend down through a wooden stairway with 378 stairs, taking you 64 meters underground to reach the first level of the mine.

Continue further down through labyrinthine passageways, tunnels, and shafts. Visit the underground museum exhibiting mining machines and equipment used to produce table salt for over 700 years.

See a subterranean lake and admire the chapels, altars, and unique statues that have been carved by miners out of rock salt. Learn about why this tradition came to be and the efforts that go into preserving these salty works of art.

After an awe-inspiring journey through 3 underground levels, take a lift back up to the main ground level. Meet back up with your tour guide who will drop you off back at your accommodation in Krakow.

The whole experience from start to finish was excellent, our guide Marek was spot on time to pick us up from our hotel, he was friendly and spoke very good English. He explained what would happen throughout our tour to the salt mine and also answered questions about other attractions in Krakow and life in general for the Polish people. The transport was spotless and M was a very good driver. Thank you Marek.

Great tour! It was very organized, and we saw a lot more than if we had done individual tours. Our guide was so gracious, and accommodated our request to be dropped off at a location other than our hotel. We also loved the salt gifts our guide gave us at the end of the tour!

Great trip. Our driver was on time and we had a smooth transfer to the mine. The commentary was hard to hear as our mine guide wore a mask (maybe a clear visor may be better for the lipreaders) and we were followed by a very noisy school party. Whilst this didnt spoil the visit, we would have liked more commentary. Lastly, leave your coat on the bus. its very warm down there and lugging your coat becomes a bind. Lots of steps to descend and lots of walking. Not a trip for those who have poor mobility.
