The bis was on time, you could even communicate in advance. The guide Paul and the driver were great. Very good English, very detailed tour guide on the bus on the way to Auschwitz / Birkenau. There was a guide book for everyone, in local language. Totally friendly, patient and reliable.

The tour is very good, Paul is very sympathetic. The advantage of this tour is that it guarantees us the outward journey and the return (otherwise, it's complicated by train, end much longer); entry without problem: and that he leaves us free to visit the two sites alone, so that we do so at our own pace. However, it might take 30 mins more for each site: especially for Auschwitz I, the site being very dense (lots of exhibitions…), we would have liked to have 30 mins more so as not to hurry at the end. However, the sites are already quite full of history, and having had recourse to this tour allowed us to understand this day with less difficulty. Just to note: we left 30 mins late, but Paul warned us the night before.

It is certainly a mandatory stop on the way. The Second World War hit Poland very hard and this is one of the places as a result of it. You get goose bumps just thinking about what all those people must have gone through. Auschwitz Birkenao hits from minute one. They provide you with a guide to explain all the parts but in my case it was not of great help, after 2 hours of visits you go to the museum where you can see personal objects of some of the people who were in the concentration camp. After two hours, you return to the meeting point in Krakow.
