The Cozumel Turtle Sanctuary Snorkel Tour

I want to start this off by saying thank you to Rafael and captain Juan for the great experience. They did a great job making us feel safe. Most importantly though the boat ride and snorkeling were super fun. Juan played music on the boat. As we were a group of friends, we were singing along, which made the boat ride seem very short. As someone who is at times prone to motion sickness, the boat was moving fast and straight so it felt alright. I was anyway distracted by the nice views and music. Now to the best part, the places we snorkeled were carefully picked by the guide to show us various different sea animals. We saw sea turtles, various different fish species (some looked like the ones from finding Nemo), barracudas, star fishes, and of course sting rays. The sting rays were a highlight to me. They came very close when we started having some snacks since they are accustomed to get fed by people. The sting rays are harmless so it was very cute watching them circle around our feet.

This was more than we could’ve hoped for - what an incredible day, we went with two other friends and all agreed, we were lost for words on how to describe the experience. The general experience on the boat was a lot of fun, we had music blasting as we travelled to our destination and when we arrived at each destination, Rafael guided us through each snorkelling spot and explained the different fish, starfish, sea turtle and sting rays around us. The sea turtle was my favourite of the sea life we encountered - what a beautiful creature … at the last destination of the trip, we got to enjoy a delicious & freshly prepared guacamole, fruit platter & beer on a floating table SURROUNDED by sting rays, it was like nothing I’ve ever experienced…. Incredible! Although there were lots of boats around, it didn’t take away from our own group experience. Thank you Rafael and Caption Juan - not only great DJs, you are legends and it has to be one of the best trips I’ve ever experienced in my life:)

War ein tolles Erlebnis. Jederzeit wieder. Ist zwar ein Stück mit dem Boot zu fahren (hin ca. 40 Minuten, zurück knapp 1 Stunde), aber wenn man da ist, fährt man von Schnorchelspot zu Schnorchelspot nur wenige Minuten. Man hat viel Zeit, sich die tollen Orte unter Wasser anzuschauen Und man sieht tatsächlich Seesterne, Stachel,rochen und Schildkröten. Selbst die Guacamole und Ceviche sind super. Unser Guide hat in Spanisch und Englisch unterhaltsam unsere Tour geleitet. Beim schnorcheln hat er dann angeboten mit einer GoPro Bilder unter Wasser zu machen. Kostet am Ende 75 €, ist aber kein Muss und eine schöne Erinnerung, wenn man sich dafür entscheidet.
