Girona: Small Group Walking Tour

5. Girona: Small Group Walking Tour

The ancient walled city of Girona stands on a fortress-like hill, high above the confluence of the Onyar and Ter rivers. As the provincial capital, it has a long and distinguished history. Founded by Iberians, the Romans later named it Gerunda and established it as an important stopping point on the Via Augusta, linking Iberia with Rome. But the most important time for the city was the middle ages, due to its location near the french border the city was under siege several times, so its main buildings are from that time. Girona has the huge 15th century cathedral, boasting the widest unsupported gothic arch in the world which dominates the skyline. Much of the city's attraction lies in exploring the medieval streets, especially around the charming Jewish quarter. In the lower part of the city, you will enjoy spectacular images of steep alleyways and the brightly painted façades of the houses overlooking the Onyar river which provide the most emblematic image of the city.  Among the bridges that span the river are the lightweight Gómez bridge and the Ferreries Velles bridge which was designed by Gustave Eiffel in 1877. Also, if you are interested in The Game of Thrones series, the guide will show the locations where the 6th season was filmed. This extensive visit will show you the most important monuments of Girona, its history, its Jewish heritage and also its legends. Join local guides who know all the secrets of the city.

Tossa de Mar: PADI Discovery Scuba Diving

6. Tossa de Mar: PADI Discovery Scuba Diving

The "try dive" is an activity recommended for beginners in scuba. The entire experience lasts three hours, the first 35 minutes of which will consist of a briefing on how the equipment works, how to communicate underwater using hand signals, and how the tour will go. Afterwards, get kitted out in the provided wetsuit and boots in the changing room. Once you are ready, hop in the van for just five minutes and prepare for the fun to start. Because the dive site is directly connected with the beach, you'll be enjoying a shore dive off Mar Menuda Beach.  When you get to the water, your guide will break up the activity step by step, and you'll have plenty of time to get used to each one at your own pace. Starting from the beach makes everything easier, especially for your ears as you'll have more time to get used to the pressure. Stay under the water for about an hour — this, of course, depends on you, because the more nervous you are, the faster you breathe, and the quicker you'll go through the air in your tank. During the dive, your guides will snap some photos/videos, so you will have a souvenir from the activity.

We took our scuba dive excursion on Tuesday, Feb 21, 2023. We arrived prior to 10 AM opening. February is considered low season so all attention was on us. The owners greeted us with smiles and shared our enthusiasm for this awesome experience. Equipment was in good shape. As first timers to scuba diving, they work with each individual to succeed. I mean this! Even during the time underwater, Pep guided my sons and I with equipment issues. Meanwhile, Mark did a wonderful job on leading the group, allowing us to explore various rocks and schools of fish. We were able to see an octopus cuddled in the rock formations. Having 2 experienced divers with our small group of four was very comforting and helpful! My sons were age 14, 12, and 9 years old. All had a fabulous time! Mark, our guide, takes pictures all along the excursion. Can't wait to see them! These are memories that will last forever... if given the opportunity, I would definitely recommend this company!

My family and I had a great time. Our guide: Alan was friendly , knowledgeable and professional. My kids learned a lot about the flora of costa brava and the history of Girona. Alan was so well prepared with extra umbrella, rain jackets etc that thankfully we didn’t have to use much at all. Highly recommend Mont Escape for travelers that want to have a smaller and personalized tour .

Jordi is really friendly and professional. They provided a wonderful Dali-themed trip, you can visit two beautiful sites all at once in one day. It is a worthwhile trying experience.

Girona was an amazing medieval town! Definitely a highlight! Dali museum was great, don’t miss the jewellery section!

Great trip. Knowledgeable guides and the perfect amount of time to spend in Girona and Figueras.
