Our guide, Milo, was fabulous and the vistas on our journey from Corniglia to Manarola were beautiful! The red and white trail was clear and Milo guided us expertly. We enjoyed a refreshing stop with delicious fresh local focaccia, local wine and beverages after our ascent. Milo was informative and patient with all of us during the four hour hike. Be prepared: This is an intermediate hike. If you have pulmonary or cardiac restrictions this hike is not a good fit for you. The ascent is quite steep as is the descent. If you have orthopedic issues and feel as if you can manage the climb, walking sticks will be an excellent idea.

Our guide was absolutely brilliant. I'll give him a plus on top of the 5 stars. The hike over the hills is absolutely worth the effort. An experience. Thank you. Marco.

Full description

Starting from Corniglia, the highest of the Cinque Terre villages and the true heart of this region, we will have the opportunity to explore the terraces adorned with orchards, olive trees, and vineyards that have so effectively shaped the collective imagination of this UNESCO World Heritage site—a special place where centuries of human labor and resilient Mediterranean nature have intertwined and blurred into one, making them indistinguishable today.

Accompanied by our certified hiking guide, we will slowly explore paths that, nestled between vineyards perched on cliffs above the sea and lush forests of holm oaks and mastic trees, will lead us to Manarola through Volastra. Along the way, we’ll uncover the many stories that characterize this small yet distinctive slice of Italy.

Following the "outdoor for good" philosophy, central to Outdoor Portofino’s mission, every outdoor recreational activity, if carried out responsibly, can make a difference in preserving the nature it passes through. Our narrative of the explored territory aims to take you off the beaten track of traditional tourism, immersing you in an approach to the Cinque Terre that is more attentive to its environmental and social issues, while also emphasizing the positive impact tourists can have by consciously embracing this philosophy.

To enrich this experience of mindful tourism with a more sensory and less verbal aspect, we will also take a short break for an aperitif in the village of Volastra, which will precede the final descent to Manarola. Here, surrounded by a timeless Mediterranean atmosphere, we will have the chance to leisurely taste a local wine under the Triple A label (Agricoltori - Artigiani - Artisti), an Italian certification that guarantees the quality and naturalness of the wine offered, as well as its low environmental and social impact due to sustainable production methods.

From Corniglia to Manarola, passing through Volastra: join us in exploring these spectacular coastal views of the Cinque Terre, and embrace the philosophy of slow, mindful tourism that is regenerative for both the individual and the environment.

Our guides offer a complete hiking experience, combining technical expertise and a passion for the Cinque Terre with a commitment to preserving its cultural landscape. Along panoramic trails, they will enrich your experience with environmental interpretations and historical tales, while promoting sustainable tourism practices and citizen science tools—meaning the involvement of ordinary people in scientific research to create a positive impact on the environment they explore.
The guides who will accompany you share a responsible approach to environmental exploration, turning each hike into a holistic adventure for mind, body, and soul. In this way, we guarantee memorable experiences that respect and celebrate the beauty and diversity of the Cinque Terre’s cultural landscape.
