Cusco: Half-Day Group City Tour

5. Cusco: Half-Day Group City Tour

Your city tour of Cusco begins from the Qoricancha, also known as the Temple of the Sun. The temple was built by orders of the Inca Pachacutec (1438–1572), and following the arrival of the Spaniards, it became the base of the convent of Santo Domingo. You then travel to Sacsayhuaman, one of the most emblematic places of the Inca Empire. It is a structure made of huge carved stones, approximately 9 meters high and weighing at least 100 tons. These stones are arranged in an organized way and in a perfect position to form three platforms measuring 390 meters long. Continuing onward, visit the archaeological park of Q’enqo, a center of cults and ceremonies dedicated to Mother Earth. History states that this was an amphitheater of cults where the Inca dead were placed for ceremonies, being laid on the trapezoid structures found there. Your next stop is Puca Pucara - also known as “Red Fort”. In addition to the fortress, other archaeological structures such as aqueducts, enclosures, and fountains can be seen at this site. Finally, your last place visited will be Tambomachay, just 100 meters from Puca Pucara. It is made from carved rocks, which form a beautiful set of canals and waterfalls which flow from nearby springs.

Good value pass.

Gives access to 16 sites, although not all of them are within a reasonable distance from Cusco (wish we had researched this more). Really good value though, they dropped the tickets off with out hotel because of a long delay on our flights and their office was closed on the day of our arrival. Great service.

Hi!!! I would have liked to find a little more archeological information at each site at the entrance .. IN MORAY there is a trailhead sign with a brief summary at least

Must have to enter the tourist attractions of the city of cusco. It does not include the Sal swimming pools, Cusco Cathedral or Koricancha Temple.
