Today Córdoba is known for its popular and festive Patios Festival, a unique event giving the city a special mark of hospitality in which Córdoba shines because of its smell and color thanks to these patios that open their doors throughout the month.
What to Expect
As a physical space incorporated into private homes, patios have existed throughout history since the time of the Greeks. The Roman influence added water as an element to these patios, but it was the Arabs who transformed patios into a place where people socialized.
Today, you could say that a large majority of homes in the historical city center of Córdoba have patios.
The patios aren’t set up in a matter of a couple of days. The patios are the product of many years of gardening, placement, watering, hanging and enjoying these plants as much as the rest of the elements of a public space, and the enjoyment of all the senses within the framework of a private home.
You will visit two patios in Cordoba on this approximately 1.5-hour tour. Accompanied by a tour guide, you will learn about the history and beauty of the courtyards.
Keep in mind that the patios are part of private homes. The start time and itinerary are subject to change.
