Full description

Enjoy a scenic sightseeing tour of North Sealand on an 8.5-hour excursion from Copenhagen, and visit the royal monuments of Kronborg Castle and Frederiksborg Castle and the World Heritage site of Roskilde Cathedral. Ideal for those who want to explore further than the city center to see as much as possible of historic Denmark, but are short of time, you will travel in a small group for a more personalized experience. The tour includes time to explore the imposing exteriors and interiors of Frederiksborg and Kronborg castles, the latter set on the banks of the Sund between Denmark and Sweden, and most notable as the site of Elsinore in Shakespeare’s “Hamlet.”

Soak up the romantic setting of Frederiksborg Castle in Hillerød, surrounded by a beautiful lake and gardens. The guide will take you to Roskilde to visit Roskilde Cathedral, the burial site of 39 Danish kings and queens, including Ingrid of Sweden, spouse of Denmark’s Frederick IX, father of the current Queen Margrethe II. The last stop on your tour will be the Viking Ship Museum to see rebuilt models and excavated ships from the days when the Vikings rampaged their way - and conquered - much of Western Europe and the North Atlantic. Please note, that between November and March and most of April, the tour does not include a visit to the Cathedral's interior but rather a walk around the impressive structure and an introduction to the Cathedral's place in history.

A great small group excursion. I was picked up from my hotel at the scheduled time. The visits were all very relevant and interesting. The times on the spot were well calculated. I greatly thank Robert for his anecdotes and his knowledge of the country's history, it was very enriching!

I visited Roskilde, the Viking Ship Museum, Frederiksborg, and Kronberg on a full day small coach tour. Nick and Thomas were my tour guides and they were super. I was unable to stump them with a military, history, or culture question. They were knowledgeable, approachable, and engaging. We had 12 folks on the coach and we all felt fortunate to have such accomplished tour guides. Separately, the Get Your Guide staff was very helpful as my hotel was changed at a late date. Hotel pick-up went smoothly. The price I paid was fair and I felt that I received a terrific day tour of four sites for a reasonable expense. I would recommend "Hamlet Tours" to anyone traveling to Copenhagen.

This was a brilliant tour! We were lucky to have Nick and Thomas with us today, on this tour. They were both so knowledgeable and enthusiastic about Denmark history and history in general that the tour seemed to fly by, as there seemed to not be enough time to talk about everything. I loved the layout of the tour and I think it was well planned, with a sneaky lunch before entering the Frederiksborg palace, which gave you enough energy to see the palace and the Kronborg castle soon after. The travel wasn't long and was very informative with Nick's history lessons I have definitely enjoyed this tour, thank you Nick and Thomas for your time and energy! Carry on with the amazing work!
