Comillas

Visit one of only three buildings designed by Gaudí outside of Barcelona, the stunning El Capricho. Choose a ticket-only option to explore on your own, or select a guided tour to dive deeper into Gaudí’s life and work. Discover this colorful mansion surrounded by sunflowers, where every detail has meaning. Enjoy access to all the exterior and interior spaces, as well as audiovisual materials and exhibitions to explain this great work of art. With the guided tour option you’ll learn more about the secrets and history of El Capricho. The tour starts outside and takes you through the mansion’s main floor. Afterwards, you’re free to explore the rest of the site on your own.

On this full day excursion you will get to know the main villages of the western coast of Cantabria. Our first stop will be in San Vicente de la Barquera, a fishing and fishing village, whose port was and still is the heart of the activity of the municipality. During the tour we will also admire the privileged environment that surrounds this town located in the heart of the Oyambre Natural Park, a park that we will also visit by minibus along its coastal path; you will love its estuaries, beaches, dunes and cliffs, a real natural treasure. Our next stop will be to visit Comillas, the only town with a modernist influence in Cantabria. You will fall in love with its heritage complex formed by Gaudí's Capricho, the Palace and Chapel of Sobrellano and the Pontifical University. Here you will have some free time for shopping or to visit El Capricho de Gaudí (optional visit), probably the most eye-catching building in Cantabria due to the colours and shapes it intermingles. You may wonder why Gaudí chose this place to place his work in a different location from his beloved Barcelona, we will find out during our visit! We will stop in Santillana del Mar for lunch (lunch not included). Santillana is the medieval town of Cantabria par excellence, famous for its historic centre made up of medieval buildings, cobbled streets and its collegiate church of Santa Juliana, a jewel of Romanesque architecture in Cantabria. Here we will also take a walking tour to discover its medieval old town of mansions, towers and palaces that make Santillana one of the most beautiful villages in Spain. To round off the day, we will go to the Altamira Museum to visit the Neocave, a reconstruction of the prehistoric paintings of the original Altamira cave, which was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1985 and which will take us back to the primeval age of mankind. In short, it will be a very complete day, full of history, landscapes and walks to get to know one of the most touristic areas of Cantabria. The tour ends back at the pick-up points.

On this tour, you will discover the only modernist town of Cantabria, Comillas. Thanks to a series of historical buildings constructed by famous Catalan architects like Antonio Gaudí, this elegant town is a model of Catalonian modernism and it also encompasses all of the elements necessary to satisfy any tourist or lover of modernist architecture. Our way to Comillas will take us about 50 minutes, we will profit to enjoy the views over the Cantabrian landscape and learn about the figure of Antonio Lopez y Lopez, the person behind many of the most important constructions in town. Once in Comillas, you will enjoy a guided visit to the Old Main Seminar of Comillas, you will be surprised by the size and details of the construction of this building. During this visit, we will have the opportunity to visit the breathtaking part of the church that is currently under renovation. Our next stop will be to visit the "Capricho de Gaudí". This is a villa built by the famous Catalan architect Antonio Gaudí, it is in fact one of his few constructions out of Catalonia. You will love the shapes, colors, and materials that Gaudí used to make this unique building that undoubtedly bears his stamp. Before leaving, you will enjoy a scenic drive through the town to see the Palace of Sobrellano with its Chapel, the Old Cemetery with its magnificent sculpture in the “Ángel Exterminador”, and the beautiful beach and little port of Comillas.

The first destination of our tour will be the impressive sequoia forest, it will not be necessary to cross the Atlantic to be able to observe this incredible natural monument with sequoias up to 40m high. Then, we will head to Comillas, making a panoramic visit of the Pontifical University and the Belarre Palace. Later, we will make a guided visit to Gaudi's whim, where we will appreciate the modernist architecture in this incredible building. At the end of the visit, we will take a guided visit to the town of Comillas to explore the highlights of the town. Later, we will move to Santillana del Mar, considered one of the most beautiful villages in Spain, where we will make a visit through its medieval streets to discover the most important buildings and monuments of the place. After the visit we will have free time to have lunch and taste some of the typical dishes of the area in one of its restaurants.

Day 1: 9:30 pick up at your hotel. In San Sebastián. We`ll discover the city by car. In the evening visit Hondarribia, this painteresque Basque village. Time for pintxos at downtown of San Sebastián. final day in San Sebastián Day 2: 9:30 Gernika Casa de Juntas (town hall) San Juan de Gatzelugatxe, Urdabai National Park, Bilbao peak view Artxanda. final day in Bilbao. Day 3: Bilbao - Oñati town - Aranzazu Sanctuary - final day in Bilbao hotel. Day 1: Santiago de Compostela Your local guide will pick you up at your hotel and take you on a 4-hour visit of Santiago de Compostela, including the cathedral. Enjoy free time for lunch before the driver will picks you up and leads you for a visit to the Costa da Morte on the Galician coast. Stay overnight at your hotel. Day 2: From Santiago to Oviedo Your driver will pick you up at your hotel in Santiago de Compostela and drive you towards Oviedo. On your way, discover the coastal regions of Galicia and Asturias, including the As Catedrais beach, Ribadeo, Mirador La Regalina observation deck, and the Lighthouse Cabo Vidio. Enjoy a lunch break in Cudillero. After lunch, drive to Oviedo where you will meet with your local guide and enjoy a guided visit to its old town. Sleep in Oviedo Day 3: From Oviedo to Santander Your driver will pick up you up at your hotel in Oviedo and drive you towards Santander. On the way, stop to visit the Holy Cave of Covadonga and basilica followed by a lunch break in Llanes. Take a scenic drive through San Vicente de la Barquera and stop in Comillas to enjoy a guided visit to the El Capricho de Gaudí. Sleep in Santander. Day 4: Santander and Santillana del Mar Your guide will pick you up at your hotel to show you the nice city of Santander and its bay on a 3-hour tour. Take a lunch break in Santander, after which you will go to one of the nicest villages in Spain, Santillana del Mar. Enjoy some time to walk around and visit the Neo-Cave of Altamira in the Altamira Museum. Day 5: Santander to Bilbao Your driver will pick you up at your hotel in Santander and drive you towards Bilbao. Meet with your local guide and enjoy a guided tour of the city and a 4-hour visit to the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao. Take a lunch break in Bilbao and have free time to visit the so-called "Hanging Bridge" linking Portugalete and Las Arenas. The final drop-off will be at your hotel in Bilbao where the tour will end.
