Although earthquakes have caused some damage, most of the Colosseum still stands. The tour inside this archeological marvel, where you can retrace the steps of the gladiators, is a must-do.

Planning Your Visit

  • Admission

You can pre-book a standard ticket online that covers all three monuments in the area: the Colosseum, Roman Forum, and Palatine Hill. Opening hours are from 8:30 AM until one hour before sunset.

  • Tours

If you want to do more than just walk in and grab a few shots with your camera, we recommend a small group tour. We’ve done it and it’s well worth it. You can also combine it with the guided tour of the Forum or Palatine Hill.

We loved this tour! It was quite fantastic! Our guide was one of our favorite parts of the entire tour. Maximus is hilarious! We had some chatty folks on our tour. Some know it all’s and our guide handled it very professionally. He was incredibly well informed and ready to help with any recommendations that we wanted. The tour itself is quite fascinating. Definitely can’t miss it while you’re in Rome! The underground’s are new to tourism. So do yourself a favor and go on this tour while you’re in town!!

Very informative tour can’t recommend the guide enough. Think he name was Lou?? She engaged all the children to help them enjoy the tour which might have been a bit too much “history” for them otherwise. Not sure what we paid an extra €25 euros at the start for possibly the museum upstairs in the Colosseum.

Our guide Maya was amazing, she explained everything perfectly and with a lot of detail and it was lovely to see the passion she brings on the visit! Thank you for the perfect tour!! I am pregnant with seven months and Maya was always caring to know if I was doing ok, thank you!

What a Great Tour. Couldn't have asked anymore from our Tour Guide. She was so informative and spent so much time explaining everything in the Roman Forum, Palatine Hill and the Colosseum. She really is a credit to Get Your Guide. Would highly recommend booking

Mega amazing guide, we got a really in-depth account of the Colloseum, the Romans and the ruins of Rome. This trip can definitely be recommended.
