Full description
Explore the spectacular Siebengebirge on a fascinating boat tour. Climb aboard in Cologne and cruise past Bonn and the legendary Drachenfels to Königswinter. Admire the stunning views of the countryside and the towns along the way. The Drachenfels is the most famous mountain in the region surrounding Cologne and Bonn. At the top of the summit is a ruined castle which, together with the Drachenfels plateau, is one of the most popular recreation areas in the Rhineland. Stroll along the waterfront or head up the mountain with the Drachenfels Railway to enjoy the breathtaking views over the Rhine Valley and the Rolandsbogen. You can choose between a one-way cruise from Cologne to Königswinter or a roundtrip cruise from Cologne to Königswinter and back. If you opt for the roundtrip cruise, you’ll have sufficient time to explore Königswinter on your own.

There wasn't any commentary so you won't necessarily know what you are passing but it was a very pleasant journey. Took about four hours to get there (which my daughter found a little too long, I enjoyed it though!) Service on board the boat in terms of food and drink was excellent. We had about 3 hours in Koenigswinter, which we chose to spend by taking the cog railway up to the top of Drachenfels and exploring up there. We both really enjoyed that and had a very welcome drink at the restaurant before taking the cog railway back down again. The boat back to Cologne only took about 2 and a half hours which my daugher found much more manageable and really enjoyed.

The day trip by boat from Cologne to Königswinter and back later was an unforgettably beautiful experience for me and my girlfriend. The calm gliding on the Rhine, right and left the skylines, very impressive. The food on the KD-Beethoven was very tasty, and the price-performance ratio was also right. The service was friendly and funny. This tour is recommended.

It is a very scenic and pleasant boat ride but there were a few things unclear which put it as 4 stars. First place is to go to the KD ticket office to get your physical ticket and then its a 5min walk to peir 3 to get on, make sure you give ample time. Theres not many tables upstairs so if you want to sit with one get up there fast. Downstairs was really nice and spacious and gave a great view. lots of food and drink options at a reasonable price. It takes ages, it took us over 4hours to get to the place therefore you only get around 3hours at the place. altho we brought a round trip ticket we took the train back which was 8 euro and 40mins as it looked like we wouldnt get back till 8pm and wanted to explore thoroughly. i think a one way and the train back is best unless you want dinner on the boat. :)
