Surrounded by vineyards, this fortified town is a jewel. The village is full of beautifully-colored, half-timbered residences and facades decorated with old shop signs. Omnipresent flowers and creepers add to the charm of the village. From there, head to Hunawihr, the last stop and one of the most beautiful villages in France, known for its numerous artisan shops and multiple cultural landmarks.

Depart Colmar and travel by fully equipped minivan through the rolling hills covered in vines and medieval castle ruins. Marvel at the charming villages of cobblestone streets and half-timbered houses decorated with flower boxes and brightly painted ensigns. Depart Colmar and journey in a small group to the traditional small town of Eguisheim. After a walk in the village, continue your tour to the fortified town of Riquewihr, passing by the village of Turckheim, where you can admire many traditional Alsace style houses, overflowing with flowers. In Riquewihr, stroll through the tiny streets lined with old houses that have preserved their 16th-century splendor. Get some free time to explore on your own and find a nice spot for lunch. Then, travel along the breathtaking Alsace wine route between the Rhine Valley and Vosges Mountains. Get amazing views of the undulating, vine-covered hills and quaint villages with narrow streets and flower-decked houses. Arrive at the medieval Château du Haut-Kœnigsbourg overlooking the valley. Learn how the castle once controlled the wine and wheat routes to the north and salt route from the east.

Your 3-country adventure begins with pickup from your accommodation in Colmar. On your way to Germany, you’ll pass by the fortified village of Neuf-Brisach, a UNESCO world heritage site dating back to the late 17th century.  From there, you'll drive to Germany and visit Freiburg, one of the treasures of the German state of Baden-Württemberg. Amble through the streets that seem ripped straight from a fairytale, taking note of the channels of water that runs right alongside sidewalks. Afterward, you'll pass through another border bound for Basel in Switzerland. Divided into 2 parts by the Rhine river, the city has much to offer, with its picturesque bridges, narrow, winding alleyways, and stunning cathedrals.  Wandering through the medieval town of Great Basel, look for the unique cultural aspects of the city that differentiate it from other Swiss towns. Your day trip ends in perhaps the most charming and beautiful village in France: Eguisheim. Situated just south of Colmar, the town runs in concentric circles around a central plaza.  With tightly packed antique houses painted in brightly-colored hues, quaint shops, and a medieval castle, there are few villages in the world that so truly harken back to another age. Once your border-crossing adventure is over, you’ll return to your accommodation in Colmar.

Depart Colmar in the morning and journey along part of the winding 170-kilometer Alsace Wine Route on the eastern foothills of the Vosges Mountains. Marvel at the exceptional natural beauty of the surroundings as you pass through quaint villages and the undulating, vine-covered hills of the region. Stop to enjoy 3 different wine tasting sessions at typical wineries and sample Pinot Blanc, Sylvaner and Riesling wines. Experience the only Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée (AOC) region in France to produce mostly varietal wines from similar grape varieties to those used in German wine.

On this festive 7-hour program you’ll depart Strasbourg in the morning, and head to the village of Colmar. Christmas in Colmar’s historic town center is a magical experience featuring Christmas illuminations that blend perfectly with the lighting designed to enhance the town’s heritage. The pedestrian city center with its major architectural treasures dates from the Middle Ages to the 19th century. It is beautifully decorated, creating a veritable open-air theater where the warm Christmas mood envelops the heart of the town. Enjoy some free time in the area to visit your choice of the 5 different Christmas markets. Then you’ll take a drive along the famous Alsace Wine Route, passing through some of the region’s most beautiful villages. The afternoon program will depend on the date of your tour. Eguisheim, Riquewihr (Medieval market), Colmar and Strasbourg cities host a market every single day. Depending on when you go, discover the Christmas Market of Bergheim or the Ribeauvillé market. Almost every single day of this festive season, the market of Kaysersberg will be ready to show you all it has to offer. After the market visits you’ll return to Strasbourg.
