Everything exceeded our expectations. The show is well organised and thoroughly enjoyable. The setting is quite intimate with an audience of about 50. The performers are all accomplished musicians and the pieces showcased their talents and were a perfect introduction to Coimbra Fado, without being either condescending or high brow. The show moved along nicely with brief explanations in both Portuguese and English and the audience was kept engaged, being invited to participate in some lighthearted interaction. The post performance mingling over a glass of port wine, with the opportunity to ask questions of the artists was an excellent touch.

Excellent introduction to Coimbra Fado. Brilliant musicians. Excellent singers. Interesting historical photos and videos projected on to a screen behind the performers. Travel guru Rick Steves recommends this venue as his favourite place for Fado and we’re glad we followed his advice!

A genuinely enjoyable experience. As someone who knew little about Coimbra or Fado before the performance I came away knowing far, far more. Something that I thought had the potential to be a bit tacky was not at all and the event was entertaining, engaging and thoroughly enjoyable.
