Take in the sights of picturesque Cochem and the Moselle Valley aboard a relaxing river cruise. The 1-hour roundtrip starts and ends in Cochem right below Skagerrak Bridge at these times: 11:00, 12:30, 14:00, 15:00, 15:30, 16.45. If you want you can get off in Ernst an go back to Cochem on the next roundtrip. As you enter our impressive ship "Treis-Karden" which provides space for up to 400 passengers on three levels including a sun deck you will find a suitable seat with a nice view for you. Inside or outside. From our attentive staff you can purchase soft drinks, coffee specialities, beer and excellent wines which have grown on the mountains and hills around Cochem and moreover some snacks, cake or icecream. First the trip will take you downstream through two bridges then on your way back you get the full on-coming view on the Reichsburg (castle) Cochem. The ship glides along the river banks of Cochem where you can see the whole arrangement of houses, hotels and restaurants from the water-side underneath the castle. You will pass the steep and windy mountain Brauselay. With lots of vinyards on both side the boat comes to Ernst. Here you have the opportunity to get off the boat (just tell our staff) and epxlore the lovely village of Ernst, with lots of opportunities to try and shop wine. There are often various festivities on weekends. The ships turns again on the same way back to Cochem where you get to see the Reichsburg Cochem form another point of view. After 1 hour you are back in Cochem where the tour started.

Embark on a day trip to Cochem aboard the MS Goldstück. After departure, cruise along the Moselle River towards Cochem. Pass through a lock that raises the boat 5-6 meters. Stop for a drink in one of the numerous wine bars or browse the shops for some local products, before heading back to Alken on the boat.

Inhabited since Celtic times and once part of the Roman Empire, it was first documented in the 9th century with the Latin name Villa Cuchema, demonstrating how deep the historical roots of this town go. Cochem was also once an Imperial estate and was once besieged and occupied by the French. King Louis XIV burned down the original castle and conquered the city, which led to a lengthy reconstruction afterwards. Napoleon’s army also occupied the city in the 18th century but then was assigned to Prussian rule with the fall of Napoleon. World War II also left its mark here, with the majority of the city being destroyed, due to its subcamps of the Natzweiler concentration camp. After the war, Cochem was reassigned to the newly founded German State of Rhineland-Palatinate. Wonder at St Martin’s Church, one of the landmarks of the city, and discover the Capuchin Monastery, founded in 1623 by the Elector Lothar von Metternich. Explore the Market Square and its importance in the late Middle Ages, with a view of the city’s charming half-timbered houses. Discover the castle Reichsburg, a beautifully restored medieval castle, one of the highest hill castles on the river Mosel. Cochem is a gem from the Mosel with much more to offer!
