We were met right on time at the port entrance by our guide Sandro, who was very friendly and spoke wonderful English. He took us to the hilltop ancient town of Tarquinia, where we visited an Etruscan museum and the city hall, and then he did a slight detour to show us the area around Porto Ercole, before taking us to the hilltop town of Capalbio, where he found us a restaurant for bistecca fiorentina (our first - so delicious). We then went to the Tarot Garden of Niki de Saint Phalle, which is amazing in its collection of giant, whimsical mosaic sculptures, some of which are as big as a house! We had a great day and would happily tour with him again. Very pleased with our experience.

So pleased we took this tour. Capalbio is a little gem of a place - authentic Tuscan walled town and not inhabited by herds of tourists- just beautiful ancient buildings and Tuscan hills. A very special 3 course lunch included at a place the locals go- Then afternoon at the magical Tarot gardens. So worth a visit - kids would love it - even grown up ones - for a place that has soul and mystery and surprises and beauty . Our guides Andreas and Maria were so informative and very good company. A perfect day out in Tuscany and not exhausting like the big cities.

Great Tour

Andrea is a top notch guide. We saw all there is to see in Tarquinius including the necropolis site, the museum and climbed the city wall for great views. Had a great tasting (and very filling) lunch (included), then went to the fabulous Tarot park——a must see. Why bother to go to overcrowded and overpriced Rome when you can do this itinerary with a private guide. Next time your cruise ship stops in Civitavechia, do this. You’ll have a great time and wonderful memories.
