Can not say enough about this fabulous day. Our guide Andrea made us feel like locals as we explored this region. The tombs were mind blowing, the museum & walk through town was excellent & this was topped off with a fabulous ‘local’ lunch accompanied by local wines. We even got serenaded by the chef himself. A must do activity when visiting the area.

Our driver/guide Milko (Sp?) met us at the location and time. He and Andras were pleasant, English speaking, and knowledgeable. Their love of the area and pride in showing interested people was obvious. We were the first people at the Etruscan tombs and enjoyed them. Milko walked us through the city of Tarquinia showing and explaining the sites and history. We did enter churches, I had on shorts, and we stayed in the back if a mass was being said.. We met Andras at Etruscolopis who lead us through the underground site explaining the history and what we were looking at. We drove to a Etruscan burial mound in a field, a 5 minute interesting stop. We had lunch in Tarquinia - antipasto, a mushroom & pasta dish and biscotti w a local wine for dipping for desert. We had 45 min left for the Etruscan museum which was worth the time. Then back to the port.

What a great day! Merko met us on time at the Passo Della Pace and took us in his vehicle directly to the Etruscan Village where we had an opportunity to visit the various tombs on our own and at our own pace. We then walked to the old town and Merko showed us historic churches and scenic viewpoints describing them as he spent time there in his youth. One of the highlights of the day was a sumptuous lunch at a local restaurant (not a tourist joint) before taking us to the Museo which expanded on what we saw at the site. Mirko also assisted us in finding a souvenir that we were looking for and at a lower price.
