Bus 8 from Exchange using Metro Card to Gondola. No queues (as no boats in) great ride up/back. Stunning views. Also, do the Discovery Tour is very informative. Lovely cafe & gift shop, friendly staff - very enjoyable.
This is a must do in Christchurch as the views are absolutely stunning! We went first thing in the morning and beat the tour groups that came in the later morning. Even if it rains still go as the weather changes by the minute up there. Great gift shop & cafe for tea/coffee. Make sure you do the history ride also! You’re only in the gondola for only 10mins each way but spend as much time at the top as you want!
