Full description

Take a unique sightseeing tour of the inner city aboard an antique trams as the driver provides a live and entertaining commentary. A full circuit takes 50 minutes and includes 18 stops, where you can hop on and off as often as you wish. Visit Riverside Market, Christchurch Botanic Gardens, Cathedral Junction, Canterbury Museum, and much more. • Please note our attractions do get very busy over the summer months (Nov-March) especially if a cruise ship is in port and there may be a wait time for entry due to increased demand

The tram loop starts at Cathedral Junction. However, you can also board the tram at any of the 18 stops along the city route by presenting your reference number.

Know before you go

  • Trams run every 15 minutes from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM in Summer, October-March, and from 9:50 AM to 4:00 PM in winter, April-September
  • Children up to the age of 15 are free of charge and each paying adult can take up to 3 children.
  • Please note our attractions do get very busy over the summer months (Nov-March) especially if a cruise ship is in port and there may be a wait time at the Tram entry due to increased demand.
  • Please note only some trams are wheelchair accessible from Stop 1 Cathedral Junction and the wheelchairs must not weight over 250kg to use the hoist available.
  • Some trams are quite high off the ground so some people with mobility issues may struggle with access to the trams. Small steps and handrails are available

There needs to be a warning that there are 2 steep steps to board the tram and anyone with mobility issues may not be able to readily get on or off. (This may already be in the advertising, I’m not sure.) The commentary was excellent.
