What people are saying about Christchurch
Why just view Ian Brodie's fine book (2004, 2011) on the filming locations of LOR - when you can immerse yourself in a wonderful full day tour from Christchurch? Mark was a very knowledgeable guide, providing not only photos and props but also a great wealth of information on New Zealand and its physical, biological, and botanical history - and importantly its social and cultural history. The weather was great (and not windy, quite unusual apparently) and we enjoyed our 14 seater 6 wheel drive vehicle to Mt Potts station , and subsequently our 200m walk to the peak of Mt Sunday - home to King Theoden's (golden) hall. (Yes, apparently gold leaf was used in crafting the temporary set). Attempts were made by my fellow travellers to wield The Sword, but I contented myself with carrying Sting back from the summit to our vehicle parked at the base. It did not glow blue - to my relief. Helm's Deep was identified, across the plain/'river'; and the snow retreating from the mountain caps. Yes!
Hassle-Free (HF) proactively reached out to me once the purchase was done to arrange pick up and all. Then, i was already pretty wow-ed by the service. It was a rainy morning that day and to play safe, i emailed HF to confirm if the tour was a go since i had some events cancelled due to the weather. They were prompt in their responses. Gaike was our guide that day, very attentive and friendly. We had an amazing time that day at Edoras. Lol. The weather was perfect.. the group cohesive. Thanks Gaike, for taking us out.
Will be recommending to others (local and visitors) as a unique and informative experience. Great tram driver, friendly with a touch of humour. Loved the options of all day, on/off experience. Worked well for both my grandson and me as the tram provided an easy link between the wonderful Margaret Mahy playground and the Museum, gardens, Art Centre etc, etc. Thank you
Enjoyed this service and commentary of this City. The earthquake still evident and loss of business with historic buildings never to be restored has been so hard to witness today. The reconstruction of structures looks promising but life as it was is now in the past.
A great experience to catch the magnificent scenery on top . Clear illustration named most of the prominent landmarks in sight at the lookout helps promoting our great interest. Absolutely worth and a must go selection in Christchurch.
