I usually do not give much about Hop-on/hop-off buses, but the one in Singapore is a clear exception. It easily connects all major sights and going on top of the bus offers a great way to catch a first glimpse of the city. Whereas the sights around the Marina Bay Area are within walking distance, a range of other places certainly is not which is where this bus comes into place. Tickets can be easily bought at several platforms, but unfortunately have to be exchanged at the central stop at Suntec City first, which is the only small drawback of this tour.
Good route. Points on route are not marked. When a person is dropped off in an area, there is no signposting that, this is stop 10 or 11, etc and on which route. There should also be sign posting at these stops to direct one to the activity or attraction that is nearby. The fare should also consider covering as additional entry fees to the most popular attractions. This would save tourists from standing in lines at all these sites. Depending on where one stays it is cumbersome to have to redeem internet ticket at main terminus only.
Our guide Christopher was a barrel of laughs. Best entertainment all night. Short talk on Traditional Chinese Medicine before dinner and after dinner we were given some time to explore Chinatown on our own . We all met up for our trishaw ride to the quay where we went on a bumboat ride. After the cruise we were given the option to make our own way back and some the driver gladly drove back to their hotel. All in all a very pleasant evening.
An extremely informative and interesting tour conducted by the lovely Helena. Her depth of knowledge is exceptional and she was so easy to talk to. The tour of the tailors house was so interesting and opened my eyes to how hard it would have been living and working in that period. We enjoyed the special morning tea which was a welcome break from the heat. It was at a good pace, not to fast for an older person.
Sometimes we had to wait longer than expected between buses. There seemed to be a shortage of drivers too. The first driver we had was rather grumpy. Wish we had been able to validate our ticket on the bus..... we had to catch the MRT to Promenade station to validate our ticket at Suntec city. Very inconvenient! This doesn’t happen in other countries.
