My day trip from Chiang Mai to Chiang Rai was honestly one of the highlights of my time in Thailand. We managed to pack so much into a single day — from exploring three stunning temples (including the iconic White Temple), to visiting the Long Neck Karen village, and even stopping by the beautiful Lalita café. Every stop had its own charm and left a lasting impression. What really elevated the entire experience was our guide, Puma. She was incredibly friendly, down-to-earth, and easy to talk to. Her relaxed energy and local knowledge made everything feel smooth and enjoyable — like we were just out on a fun day with a friend. If I had to mention one downside, it would be the long travel time. But honestly, that’s just the nature of the journey between Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai — and it was absolutely worth it for everything we got to see and do. All in all, it was a well-spent day full of culture, history, and beautiful views. Highly recommend!

(Option) The Red Temple or Wat Huay Pla Kang was designed by a true visionary, which explains its unusual stylistic and structural choices. It began as a small monk office designed by a monk named Phra Ajarn Phob Chok, and grew over 4 years into the temple that you see today.

Tour was good. It feels a bit rushed at times especially the last stop at the red temple - could have done with say 15-20 more minutes. It feels a bit weird that some people on the bus only paid to do some activities so had to wait in the car. Guide was decent, but seemed a little hurried. Temples were beautiful. I will give it that, which is what people come for on the tour.
