Full description

Meet elephants on this guided day trip from Chiang Mai to the Lanna Kingdom Elephant Sanctuary, located in the middle of a lush national park. Here the elephants are able to roam freely in a large green space. Keep your clothes clean by wearing local clothes and boots. Feed and interact with rescued elephants before sitting down to a freshly cooked lunch.

Depart Chiang Mai aboard an air-conditioned van and journey into the mountains of northern Thailand to visit the ethical Lanna Kingdom Elephant Sanctuary (approximately 1-hour drive from the city center).

Upon arrival, learn about the elephant conservation program and benefit from an introductory talk, and the chance to interact with the rescued animals. Get the chance to give them a hug and discover how to prepare a healthy meal to feed them.

Go for a walk around the sanctuary with the elephants and stop to give them a mud bath to keep their body temperature down and protect them from parasites. Feed them before enjoying a homemade lunch at a restaurant inside the sanctuary.

It was a very wonderful experience. Did the half day at the Elephant sanctuary. You can tell the Elephants are really taken care of and not forced to do anything. It was a very fun visit feeding them, walking with them and bathing them. The lunch was amazing as well.

Ethical Elephant sanctuary - the animals are not forced to interact with the tourist but they were happy to receive bananas and other kinds of foods from us. It was a very fun half day for me. I definitely recommend! Very friendly local team and guide. Lunch was a veggie Pad-Thai. You can take a shower there too if you went in the water with an elephant. Due to the dry season there is no mud bath but a small pool for the elephants to bath in.

Great experience throughout. From the comfortable van pickup to the entire sanctuary experience, and our tour guide Alex was knowledgeable, fun and charismatic. And spoke English very well. The sanctuary was massive and beautiful, and the 5 elephants were a joy to feed and bathe. The facility even had a place for us to shower after bathing the elephants. Would highly recommend this experience. Although it is pricey, you will feel good to know that a portion of the money goes towards a fund to rescue more elephants!
