Take a visit to the Elephant Sanctuary in Chiang Mai. Start with a convenient pick-up from your hotel in the city center of Chiang Mai and take a drive to Pon Elephant Thailand. Learn how to make healthy snacks for elephants and see the rescued animals. Go for a swim at Mae Wang Waterfall.

Relax as you are picked up from your city center accommodation in Chiang Mai. Sit back as you are driven southwest of the city on a scenic 1.5-hour drive. Encounter local farms, hill tribe villages, and rice fields. Receive a warm welcome when you arrive at the Pon Elephant Thailand.

Put on your traditional Karen Hill tribe clothes to look like an elephant caretaker. Listen to a briefing on Asian elephants and the background of the sanctuary. Gain new knowledge as you are taught how to make healthy snacks for the elephants.

Feed the rescued elephants as you walk up a hill in the deep jungle. Watch the elephants foraging for food and see elephant families interacting with one another. Bathe in the river with the elephants and walk them back to the sanctuary, where you will be taught how to make elephant medicine balls.

Take a shower and pack up your belongings. Eat a traditional Thai lunch and fresh fruits. Leave Pon Elephant Thailand and stop at the Mae Wang waterfall for a quick swim before transferring back starting point after the tour.

Thanks to TK my friend and I had the best time!! It was a pleasure to meet TK at the sanctuary, he really made sure that everyone feels comfortable with the elephants, which we immediately did!! He willingly shared his knowledge with us and we had the chance to take a swim with the elephants. WE LOVED IT!! Thanks to him we had also a barefoot walk through the jungle, which was fun and amazing, as we watched the waterfalls. Thank you very much! Best regards Marvin and Jessica

What an experience! Our transport and guide (Mr Boy) was on time and super friendly, and he ensured we stopped for a breakfast and toilet break mid journey. He was also really accommodating as he spoke fluent English and helped us learn Thai. He was also really knowledgable about elephants. We couldn’t have asked for better! We was in a group of 4, which we found really personal and intimidate as we got more time with the elephants. They were gorgeous and you could tell they were so well looked after. The carers fed them often, ensured they had access to constant fresh water and swimming water and the family of 3 elephants couldn’t have looked happier! We helped prepare the elephants snacks and got to feed and pet them and watch them in their natural habitat. We had a lunch break and we were provided with a really nice selection of food (accommodating to vegetarians and allergies) and the staff were super friendly. We then visited a waterfall before returning home. Great day!

The experience was amazing, do it! My favorite experience so far in Thailand. It was amazing to walk with the elephants and be able to be so close to them and touch them. The guide was also amazing, and you noticed how passionate he is about the sanctuary. All of the elephants are so well taken care of and are rescued elephants and it's so nice to see them having a good home. The sanctuary is huge and they roam around freely. Fantastic experience
