Day 1: Chennai – Mahabalipuram (55 km/30 mi/1.5 hr drive)
Meet and greet upon arrival in Chennai. Drive to Mahabalipuram, the former capital of the Pallava Kings. Mahabalipuram is known for its splendid 7th- and 8th-century art and architecture and features UNESCO World Heritage listed sites contain ancient paintings and carvings.
Check-in at the pre-booked hotel and enjoy your overnight stay.
Day 2: Mahabalipuram Tour – Chennai
After breakfast visit the 7th-century UNESCO World Heritage Site at Shore Temple, with its lush gardens on the Bay of Bengal.
See Arjuna's Penance monument, covered in ancient rock paintings, and visit rock caves from the 6th and 7th centuries. Visit the pink stone, 7th-century Five Rathas shrine, the world's largest stone relief and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
You’ll have the rest of the afternoon free to rest on the beach.
In the evening, you can explore the town, where you can also see the soap stone workers making designs and sculptures with chisel and hammer.
After the tour, drive back to Chennai and drop at Hotel or Airport.
